MY OLD SCHOOL IS COMING TO WYNWOOD
I used to be a VC in Miami, before it was cool. Haha. I still own a condo about two miles from the planned CMU campus in Wynwood. So this is particularly exciting to me: my old school is coming to a city I have a connection to.
Ken Griffin's $3 billion gift includes $2 billion for CMU Miami and $1 billion for Pittsburgh. CMU plans to start enrolling students in Miami in 2028, pending regulatory approvals.
The land deal is a huge piece of this, too. Griffin bought Wynwood property from developer Moishe Mana for a reported $1.1 billion. This isn't only a donation announcement; the purchase puts a site behind the campus plan.
