WHEN THEY FAIL, WE TAKE THEIR CUSTOMERS

Auston Bunsen had an answer for the VC question, "what happens if Google does this?" He shared a report that Google Cloud is shutting down Blockchain Node Engine and Blockchain RPC, with Quicknode as the recommended replacement.

I replied: "“When they fail, we take their customers”. Next question?"

The funny part is the direction of the handoff. In the question, Google is the company that might arrive and take the startup's customers. In this example, Google is leaving the business and pointing its customers toward another provider.

Google's migration guide sets the shutdown for December 15, 2026. Customers have to provision nodes or endpoints on Quicknode, change their applications to use those endpoints, test their workloads, and delete their old Blockchain Node Engine nodes. Google will delete the Blockchain RPC endpoints.

The customers still have applications to run. The work here is moving those applications off Google's infrastructure before the shutdown.
