FOLLOW THE TOKENS

At 5 in the morning I quote-posted Dennis Crowley with two words: "Long live Foursquare." Crowley had written that Foursquare was acquired last month, that the outcome was disappointing, and that he was finally done grieving it. His Substack essay covers the final years, honors the team that built and maintained the product, and tries to get closure. My post drew 2 likes and a reply.

That afternoon I posted a dialogue. Claude reports: 35,465 lines of code created, 116 tests passed, .env files ingested and approved, database tables optimized. Then: "please click ok to approve the latest build." The user answers: "Jeez, why do I have to do everything?" 3 likes.

Five minutes later I noted that Anthropic is launching its newest AI assistant. If you are asking why, follow the tokens: every SOTA lab is leaning in where tokens are used heavily, and assistants are the latest emerging application. 1 like and a reply.
